As per market experts, Vandalur-Kelambakkam Road is one of the future growth corridors in Chennai. What are the reasons that prompt experts to believe so?

Geographically, the 18 km stretch from Vandalur-Kelambakkam strategically connects two important roads of the city – the OMR (Old Mahabalipuram Road) and GST (Grand South Trunk Road). Thus, the connectivity that the location offers by virtue of its geographical location has propelled residential development along the stretch.

Infrastructural projects There are several infrastructural projects in the pipeline that are set to change the real estate scenario along the stretch.

To start with, the first phase of Monorail is all set to roll out. The project would connect Vandalur to Velachery providing a solace to several people working in areas such as Tambaram. This first phase spans almost 23 km and covers stations such as Perungalathur, Tambaram East, Selaiyur Camp Road, Sembakkam, Medavakkam, Pallikaranai etc. Another ambitious project of the government is the setting up a bus terminal at Guduvancheri. This is expected to offer connectivity to several locations in Chennai as well as south India.

To top it all, work of the second phase of the ORR (Outer Ring Road), which offers direct connectivity to the GST thereby leading to North Chennai, is almost reaching culmination.

Liveability “As, real estate development is still at the nascent stages here, the area is free of congestion. Almost 40 per cent of the land here is still under forest cover ensuring ample greenery,” informs Jain. Development of social infrastructure is also at its peak here. Several educational institutes such as VIT University , SRM College, Tagore Engineering College and Crecent Engineering College and several schools are already present here.
